Historic Ravinia’s Annual Community Event
We at Full Circle Architects had a wonderful time helping to organize and participate in the “Mid-Century Modern Design” event on October 9th. Check out some of the photos below that highlight the fun activities that were available.
The day started off with a presentation by Dennis Rodkin of Crain’s Chicago, who covered some of Chicago greatest mid-century architectural landmarks.
After that great bit of education, everyone was invited to hop onto one of the trolleys available to participate in the guided tour of come local buildings where docents gave some additional information on the history and importance of these buildings.

While the trolleys were running, attendees were also able to check out and bid on the finalists of this year’s Mid-Century Modern Doghouse/Playhouse Design Competition! Full Circle was happy to contribute our own designs as well!

Full Circle Architects also worked with Historic Ravinia to put together a collection of great photographs of Mid-Century Icons for guests to peruse and read more about. These photos are now happily on display throughout our office, anyone who would be interested to come view them and learn more about each one is welcome to stop by during business hours.
The day ended with a wonderful presentation by Mid-Century Modern collector Anthony Rubano of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. Anthony gave a first hand history of how Mid-Century Modern design became a unique style as well as a digital tour through the living museum of Mid-Century furniture and art that is his home.
